The Threat to US Global Trade Competitiveness: Combating Industrial and Economic Espionage

A webinar by the International Trade Club of Chicago

Presented by:

  • Michael J. Orlando, Acting Director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, US Office of the Director of National Intelligence

The United States is facing increasingly aggressive and complex threats from foreign intelligence services as well as state and non-state actors. The breach of SolarWinds and its customers in 2020 is a notable and egregious example.  To anticipate and deter these threats, the US Government continues to address its fundamental, core counterintelligence missions of protecting the American people and homeland.

The US Government is deploying capabilities and resources to address and mitigate the industrial and economic threats to American global trade competitiveness in five strategic areas:

  • Protect the nation’s critical infrastructure
  • Reduce threats to key US supply chains
  • Counter the exploitation of the US economy
  • Defend American democracy against foreign influence threats
  • Counter foreign intelligence cyber and technical operations

This presentation is designed for US global trade practitioners who:

  • Recognize that sound counterintelligence and security procedures must become part of everyday American business practices
  • Realize that partnerships, information sharing and innovation across the public and private sectors, in conjunction with foreign allies, are necessary
  • Seek an updated understanding of how foreign adversaries target international and domestic supply chains in order to gain access to corporate networks for acquisition of data, theft of intellectual property, and wreaking havoc and chaos
  • Desire insights into the latest federal efforts to partner with industry to strengthen key US supply chains
  • Need actionable steps and practical insight in order to safeguard our nation’s most sensitive information and assets

Register today for this provocative presentation by one of America's top experts on counterintelligence and counterterrorism.
