Nearshoring, Reshoring and Their Trade Compliance Challenges

A webinar by the International Trade Club of Chicago

A variety of global factors are forcing companies to reevaluate their manufacturing locations. These factors include rising Chinese labor rates, inexpensive North American energy supplies, the importance of protecting intellectual property, the benefits of having engineering and manufacturing close to one another, and the negatives associated with long product lead times.

In light of these factors, nearshoring and reshoring are becoming more common, raising new trade compliance issues. Although the directive to undertake nearshoring or reshoring may come from high in the corporate chain of command, compliance professionals must be prepared to deal with the challenges that wholesale changes in sourcing present and be able to effectively communicate the effects of those changes within the company. This program will identify the compliance issues which will be faced as your company moves production closer to the U.S. market and will provide strategies for dealing with such issues.

This webinar, the latest in the Import / Export Workshop Series of the ITCC, is a must attend event for all importers, exporters, custom brokers, sureties, carriers, in-house lawyers and international trade professionals who need an understanding of nearshoring and reshoring's impact on:

  • classification and valuation processes
  • using NAFTA/IMMEX
  • leveraging trade agreements
  • marking issues
  • communication and coordination within the company
